SHOOTING SPORTS Wyandotte County was well represented in two national matches in June and July. Joe Lutz and Caleb Paterson participated as members of the four person Air Pistol team representing Kansas. Caleb Paterson won the First Place individual medal in Air Pistol Silhouette, 8th place in the Slow-fire round, and 4th place in the Rapid-fire/Timed-fire round. Caleb also won the First Place medal in the overall Air Pistol Competition. Joe Lutz won 8th place in the Rapid-fire/Timed-fire competition. The Kansas Air Pistol Team won First Place in the Rapid-fire/Timed-fire competition, 2nd place in Silhouette, and 4th place in the Slow-fire round, and First Place in the over-all Air Pistol competition. The Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match was held in Rogers, AR in July. To earn an invitation to the Daisy National Match, a team must finish in the top three at a state-level competition. The Wyandotte County BB Gun Team earned their invitation to the Daisy National Match by finishing first in the Kansas State Rifle Association match in March. The Wyandotte County Team members for the 2011 Daisy National BB Match were Ashton Findley, Scott Gardner, Taylor Pagacz , Hannah Reynolds and Heidi Rodgers. The team’s alternate members were Owen King and Blake Wood. The Team won Sixth Place out of 48 teams from across the USA from as far away as Pennsylvania and Oregon. Ashton Findley won a Second Place Medal for his overall score of 485 out of a possible 500 and was also recognized for his Test Score of 100 Percent. Hannah Reynolds won a Third Place Medal for her score of 96 out of 100 in the Standing Position. A Daisy National CMP Air Rifle match was held in Rogers, Arkansas immediately following the Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match. Wyandotte County was represented by two four-person Sporter Class teams, with Joe Lutz, Caleb Paterson, Lydia Paterson and Aislin Reynolds making up the senior team. The junior team was made up of Alli Augustine, Michaela Augustine, Scott Gardner and Hannah Reynolds. Caleb Paterson brought home a Second Place medal in the Sporter Class senior age division for the standing position as well as the Third Place medal for Sporter Class senior division aggregate score. Lydia Paterson won First Place in the Sporter Class junior age division for standing. The Sporter Class senior team won Third Place overall, and the Sporter Class junior team won First Place overall. |
